Background on the Show from Jennifer Lorenzo

“Just a little background info on my Great Uncle. He was Joseph Nugent from Clifton, NJ. He was a victim of the Rohna.

Being the history lover that I am, I always used to ask my grandmother about the details of the Rohna, but she always said she didn’t know anything about it. I just thought that she didn’t want to discuss it. When the internet first became popular in the late 90’s, one of my first searches was “HMT Rohna” and look and behold, I found some of the answers to his story. And I was so pleased to be able to share the details with my grandmother.

The family had some fears about him after a telegram that they sent him about my mother’s birth in October of 1943 came back to them. They were then notified that he was missing in action, and later that he lost his life.

There is a street named after him in Clifton, NJ, his hometown.

I will share this story during the show.

Thank you again for joining us.”
