My uncle Edward Norton was on the Rhona and Parrish
Was your dad afflicted with PTSD? Mine sure was. He had issues galore. If you barely lived through a devastating emotional event and then we’re told you’d go to jail if you talked, would you describe the event as being a traumatic experience that easily led to PTSD? I flew helicopters in Vietnam and thank God the VA was there to treat my PTSD. My father got absolutely no compensation for his PTSD and it raged on untreated and his action impacted my mom and us kids until his death.
Raging PTSD was spawned by the fear of every troop who was told under duress that if they even talked about the Rhona sinking. That fear remained in my father’s mind until he was able to talk about it. My father was just an average dirt farmer, who came back a different person. He began drinking and suffered miserably. But don’t tell the VA anything. They will ask you HOW you 946 guys got PTSD and you’ll go to jail for telling! Let’s form a class action lawsuit on their behalf and get some resolve for EVERY person who rode the Rhona.
We’re any of the survivors of the Rhona receiving any compensation resulting from PYSD or Shell shock?
